Trishul – Inspire Empower Achieve

 11/10/2017

Trishul is a renowned Mumbai-based NGO empowering women and children from economically weaker sections of the society through skill development and education since 1988.  While enabling women through sustainable livelihood generation methods and providing holistic education to children has been Trishul’s forte, they are equally active in helping improve the quality of life of materially-challenged families.

Trishul Women Empowerment Program (TWEP) supports economically less-privileged women from rural areas and urban slums, while helping to revive traditional art and handicrafts by training and encouraging budding artisans through skill development programs and workshops on hand embroidery, painting methods such as Madhubani & Warli, basic stitching, and creating home decor, handcrafted jewelry, bags, hand-painted greeting cards, and many others.

The sales proceeds of these crafted products ensure a steady source of income for the women involved. As Trishul extends training and support to more and more women, they hope to better the lives of multitudes of families, as empowering a woman means empowering a family.

TWEP also conducts periodic health check-up; mentoring and counselling sessions, yoga, and similar supportive activities.
